Deasy announces $5.7 million in RACP grants for construction projects

 

PITTSBURGH, July 16 – State Rep. Dan Deasy, D-Allegheny, announced $5.7 million in state grants for six construction projects in the 27th District.

The funds were awarded through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program and will assist in the design, acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.

“I am proud to congratulate the recipients of RACP funding,” said Deasy. “From transformative senior housing to job training to community gathering spaces to making cultural centers more accessible, this funding will have a positive impact on our district, both in terms of the economy and the wellbeing of our community.”

The funding includes:

  • $1 million to Eastern Atlantic States Carpenters Tech for construction of the 652 Ridge Road Outdoor Training Space.

  • $2 million to ACTION-Housing Inc. for the Crafton Towers renovation project, including crucial upgrades to the building's electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems.

  • $900,000 for constructing a new Emmaus Community Welcome Center.

  • $500,000 for new roof and rooftop solar array at one of Giant Eagle’s OK Grocery distribution centers.

  • $800,000 for Hill Top Villas, which will bring transformative senior housing to Pittsburgh’s Fairywood neighborhood.

  • $500,000 for Pittsburgh Musical Theater to transform the space into a state of the art, fully accessible venue with state-of-the-art theater technology and a working educational space for the technical theater training program.
