I hope that everyone had a relaxing (although rainy) Memorial Day Weekend and a happy start to the summer.
June, in Harrisburg, means the start of budget season. We want to make sure we align with Governor Shapiro’s budget and keep with our Democratic Caucus priorities like educational funding, a clean and green environment, and affordability for all residents in the Commonwealth.

This Saturday, the Philly Pops and the South Street District will partner to bring the sounds of Motown and R&B favorites to transform the 2nd and South Street Plaza into a groovy picnic site. This free, family-friendly event gives everyone an opportunity to enjoy live music!

Mental Health Awareness Month
|
Although we are coming to the close of Mental Health Awareness Month, we must continue to recognize the importance of how to identify the role mental health plays in our overall well-being, and the value in raising awareness and helping those in need. Encouraging open conversations reduces stigma and fosters understanding, making it easier for those affected to access treatment and support.
Mental health awareness isn’t only a public health initiative, it’s something individuals can practice in small, concrete ways like:
- Talking to your children and teenagers about mental health, which can normalize the subject before a crisis ever hits.
- Reaching out to a friend or family member, even just to share a meal, take a walk, or listen, which can make a genuine difference for someone who is struggling.
- Volunteering or helping a neighbor, which can build the kind of social connection that protects mental health on both sides.
Please remember to take care of yourself and look after those around you.
