Rep. Keith Harris: Spring Garden awarded $145,000 for parks

Funding will help build four-season pavilion

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 18 – State Rep. Keith Harris, D-Phila., today announced that the Spring Garden Community Development Corp. has been awarded a $145,000 state grant to help fund improvements in local parks.

The development corporation oversees several parks, including Spring Gardens between Wallace and North Streets, which serves over 200 families and provides a green social venue for the community. The funding awarded today will help build a four-season pavilion at the park.

“I want to congratulate the Spring Garden Community Development Corp. and all of the people who have worked to create vibrant parks in our communities,” Harris said. “Each dollar we invest in our parks is a dollar invested in the families and people who live in our neighborhoods. I look forward to seeing Spring Gardens continue to grow in the years to come.”

The grant was one of dozens awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority from the Local Share Account, which supports projects in the public interest that improve the quality of life for citizens in the community.
