Redistricting Reform – would establish an independent commission, led by everyday Pennsylvanian citizens, where Pennsylvania residents can have full faith and confidence that our Commonwealth's Congressional lines are drawn fairly. Pennsylvanians deserve to vote in districts drawn in a transparent and impartial fashion and to be represented by elected officials who share their lived experience.
Requiring all Elected Officials to Resign upon Conviction - Once convicted, the public cannot hold faith in that person to fulfill their duties. In addition, the publicity created by the conviction of an elected official steers attention away from decision-making at every level of government. Without this legislation, a convicted official may remain in their position until sentencing – needlessly disrupting regular proceedings and day-to-day business.
Transparency Around Dark Money - Our bill will amend the Pennsylvania Election Code to require campaign finance reports from civic leagues and 501(c)(4) tax-exempt organizations that independently advocate for or against a particular candidate.
Campaign Finance Reform -The SCOTUS decision regarding Citizen United led to the influence of money in political campaigns growing extraordinary in the past decade.
This legislation would limit this unchecked influence by setting a cap for campaign contributions in Pennsylvania.
Expense Reporting - Although monthly reports on expense reimbursements are available through Right-to-Know requests, our resolution would simply make it easier for the public to retrieve this information. The people of Pennsylvania deserve to know how much their representatives are spending in a clear and easily accessible manner.
