Kim named Aging & Older Adult Services Committee chair

HARRISBURG, March 8 – State Rep. Patty Kim, D-Dauphin, said she is honored to serve as majority chair of the Aging and Older Adult Services Committee.

“Our office has always looked for ways to better serve our senior population,” Kim said. “Now as chair, I can help lead initiatives in a bipartisan manner that will improve the lives of all older Pennsylvanians.

“I look forward to collaborating with the Department of Aging, Governor Josh Shapiro and committee members to craft legislation that ensures senior citizens of the Commonwealth have the health care and support they need to live comfortably.

“Governor Shapiro has already shown he is committed to supporting seniors by increasing the Property Tax/Rent Rebate thresholds in his budget proposal, which will help nearly 175,000 more Pennsylvanians stay in their homes. In easing financial burdens and increasing support for our older population, the governor and I share the same priorities.

“I’m excited to get to work and see what we can achieve this session for the 2.2 million senior citizens in Pennsylvania.”

The House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee was established as a standing committee in 2001 as the result of the division of the House Aging and Youth Committee. The committee assesses a wide range of issues and legislation that affects the lives of Pennsylvania's senior citizens.
