Kinsey announces $1.75 million in redevelopment funding for Northwest Philadelphia

HARRISBURG, Dec. 6 – State Rep. Stephen Kinsey, D-Phila., today announced $1.75 million in state grants were awarded to Northwest Philadelphia for redevelopment projects.

WES Corp. is a minority-run mental health care organization located in the Logan section of Philadelphia that provides mental health services to thousands of residents across the city. WES Corp. will use the funds it receives to acquire and rehabilitate the Windrim facility by constructing administrative support offices and additional parking. The project will yield a state-of-the-art health care facility/business service hub and headquarters for WES Corp.

“I am very excited to see this funding go to WES Corporation to improve the overall complex,” Kinsey said. “It is important that our health care facilities are in the best condition possible for workers and patients.”

Work will include renovation of vacant 33,000-square-foot building to provide corporate, health care & physician offices for expanded behavioral health services, and state-licensed outpatient mental health clinics and programs.

The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is a grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.

RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenue or other measures of economic activity.
