Kosierowski: $110,116 in funding benefits local projects

HARRISBURG, Sept. 17 – State Rep. Bridget M. Kosierowski today announced $110,116 in funding has been awarded to help two local communities with improvement projects.

Lackawanna County will receive $50,000 through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program, while Mayfield Borough is getting $60,116 from the Flood Mitigation Program. Both programs are administered by the state’s Commonwealth Financing Authority.

“I am pleased the CFA board recognized how important these local projects are for the local community,” said Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna.

Lackawanna County wants to resurface the Lakeland School District’s track, which is nearly 20 years old and in disrepair to the point where the school will not be eligible to host PIAA track meets. The total cost of the project is $342,885.

Mayfield Borough is looking to purchase a commercial slope mower that can handle the cutting of about 10 acres of vegetation along the existing levee system. The total cost of that project is $70,726.
