Kosierowski announces $232,800 for local community park improvements

HARRISBURG, Nov. 14 – State Rep. Bridget M. Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna, announced today $232,800 in state funding has been awarded to the Upper Valley YMCA for the Greater Carbondale YMCA Community Park.

“The Greater Carbondale YMCA does so much to benefit the lives of everyone in the community,” Kosierowski said. “I am pleased to see the state make this critical investment, which will not only improve the park but protect the environment at the same time.”

The funding will be utilized for Phase 2 of the Community Park. Plans include the construction of a spray park, pavilion, and installation of stormwater management measures, including filtration and recirculation systems, additional play equipment with required safety surfacing, ADA access, landscaping and other site improvements. 

The grant was awarded through DCNR’s Community Conservation Partnerships Program, which provides financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, and trusts, and other nonprofits for planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenway projects.
