Krueger congratulates Nether Providence on recent state awards

HARRISBURG, Sept. 17 – Two Nether Providence initiatives received crucial state funding today thanks to an investment by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, announced state Rep. Leanne Krueger, who helped advocate for the grants.

The CFA awarded Nether Providence Township a $277,359 grant to control sediment at Sapovits Park, as well as improve the park with a rain garden to help with runoff.

It also awarded the Nether Providence Athletic Association a $133,814 grant under its Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program to install LED lighting and two sets of bleachers at the Houston Park baseball field.

“Thanks to excellent stewardship on behalf of our community leaders, these projects bring us a quality to life that is truly special – and address pressing environmental and recreational needs in the community,” said Krueger, D-Delaware.

The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development to administer Pennsylvania's economic stimulus packages.
