Team Rubicon honored by Krueger-Braneky

FOLSOM, Feb. 19 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger-Braneky, D-Delaware, recently presented a citation to Team Rubicon, a disaster response team comprising military veterans and first responders, for their selfless volunteer work following last summer’s severe thunderstorms that damaged multiple areas in Brookhaven Borough.

“Team Rubicon provided needed expertise and compassion when they assisted Brookhaven Borough and all of Delaware County following the severe storms last summer,” Krueger-Braneky said. “Their commitment in time, effort and money went a long way in helping our area recover from the storms, and their dedication to helping those in crisis around the world should be recognized and admired.”

Team Rubicon’s operation in Delaware County, known as Operation: Five Points, lasted seven days and consisted of 32 volunteers and 27 work orders. The volunteers logged over 744 hours conducting chainsaw operations, debris management and damage assessments in Delaware County and saved an estimated $20,489 in disaster cleanup costs.

Started by two members of the U.S. Marine Corps in the wake of the 2010 Haitian earthquake crisis, Team Rubicon has responded to disasters across the globe. More information can be found at:
