Krueger-Braneky praises decision to halt construction of Mariner East 2 Pipeline after latest spill

FOLSOM, July 25 – Following Judge Bernard Labuskes’ decision to issue a temporary injunction halting construction of the Mariner East 2 pipeline, state Rep. Leanne Krueger-Braneky, D-Delaware, released the following statement:

"The Environmental Hearing Board has heard the concerns of nearby neighbors in Delaware County and across the commonwealth and they have found cause to halt horizontal drilling operations until Aug. 7. Given that there have been 61 reported incidents since April, it is clearly time to address the repeated leaks by Sunoco Logistics/Energy Transfer Partners.

“We must do more to protect the constitutional right to clean water for all Pennsylvanians. I will continue to work with other legislators on a package of bills to address siting safety, eminent domain and other regulatory gaps.”
