Independence Day Festivities happening in and around the 161st District


Date: Thursday, July 4
Time: celebration begins at 7:00 p.m. fireworks show will begin at dusk, around 9:15p.m.
Location: behind Sun Valley High School, 2881 Pancoast Ave

Come out and join the Aston community in celebrating the 4th of July and the beautiful fireworks display! Refreshments will be available. Please bring lawn chairs.


Date: Thursday, July 4
Time: Parade gather at 9:45, judging begins at 10:00 a.m. and parade begins at 10:30 a.m. ceremony 11:00 a.m. and games at 11:30 a.m.
Location: Borough Hall, 212 Unity Terrace

The parade begins at Borough Hall and proceeds to Triangle Park for ceremony and games. Children 8 and under & 9 can participate in 25 yard dash, 75 yard dash, sack race, egg throw, water balloon and many more. . Fire hose immediately following the games. Rose Valley

Date: Thursday, July 4
Time: Parade forms at 1:15 p.m. and marches at 2:00 p.m.
Location: Rose Valley Train Station, line up on Woodward Road. Flag raising ceremony 3p.m. at the Rose Valley Swimming Pool.

The Rose Valley Borough and Rose Valley Swimming Pool 22nd Annual Fourth of July Celebration! Parade, Pool Party, and Picnic (All residents are invited. You do not have to be a pool member!) Parade Route: Train Station to Woodward Road to Possum Hollow Road to Pool Lane to Rose Valley Swimming Pool. Plunge into the Pool Party: Water games for all ages. Date: Thursday, July 4
Time: Parade forms at 10:00 a.m. and marches at 10:15 a.m.
Location: Swarthmore Co-op, 341 Dartmouth Avenue

The parade forms on Dartmouth Avenue in front of the Co-op and proceeds a half block on Park Avenue. Other activities celebrating Independence Day might be of interest, including a Children's Parade, a Pet Parade, and fire engine rides. See the Borough website for details.


Date: July 4th

Time: bike contest begins at 8 am, march begins at 9 am and the party continues from then on.

Location: 49 W. Leamy Ave (the High School’s parking lot), 212 West Springfield Road (the Covenant United Methodist Church)

Judging will last until 9 a.m.  Awards for bikes and floats will be presented at Veterans Memorial Park bandstand following the parade. The parade will step off at 9 a.m. from the high school and head west on Leamy to Powell Road, then from Powell to Saxer Avenue, Saxer to Springfield Road, then to Veterans Memorial Park. Following the parade, the park will host a flag raising ceremony, a salute to veterans, and the National Anthem performed by the Media Dixies The park will also feature free ice cream, pony rides, a bounce house, face painting, and much more. Kids can also compete in the 50- and 100-yard dash races, three-legged races, and the Springfield Run for Fun (adults can participate in the run, as well). Covenant United Methodist Church, 212 W. Springfield Road, will act as the event's hospitality center and will offer lemonade, restrooms, and refreshing air conditioning to attendees. The celebration is presented by the Lions Club of Springfield. Weather and cancellation information will be broadcast on the radio at KYW 1060 AM.

Ridley Township – Leedom Estates

Date: July 4, 2019 (Rain Date: July 6th)

Time: Line up starts Parade begins at 10:00 a.m.

Location: Leedom Elementary School followed by family picnic at the Leedom Community Center

Time: 10a.m. – 12 p.m.

Location: Barrall Field, E. State Street, Media

Games, food and entertainment. Live performance by Silly Joe. There will be a water slide, and games for the kids. There will also be a bike decorating contest for those that wish to participate.

Time: Dusk (arrive by 8:15 p.m.)
