Budget process begins, trout stocking schedule and more!

Governor Josh Shapiro laid out his 2025-26 state budget proposal before a joint session of the House and Senate last week. His plan presents a clear vision for Pennsylvania’s future, continuing the progress made in recent years including fair funding for schools, cutting costs for working families, and supporting economic growth while strengthening our communities.

REEL IN THE FUN OF FISHING

As the majority chair of the House Game & Fisheries Committee, I want to share that the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has posted its 2025 trout stocking schedule!

Here are some key dates for anglers:

  • March 29 marks the statewide Mentored Youth Trout Day.

  • May 25 and July 4 are Fish for Free Days.

2025 HOMEOWNER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Mark your calendars for February 14 as the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh and ACTION-Housing gear up to launch the application process for the 2025 Homeowner Assistance Program.

The program provides financial assistance to homeowners to make critical repairs and improvements to their homes within the City of Pittsburgh.

The application window will be from February 14 - March 14. A limited number of grants will be awarded, so interested homeowners are encouraged to review the eligibility requirements, priority criteria, and required documents before applying.

WEAR RED DAY

I joined my colleagues in the House to observe National Wear Red Day, which took place on Friday, February 7. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. Fortunately, most strokes can be prevented through diet, exercise, and other lifestyle changes. National Wear Red Day aims to raise awareness about women's heart health to help save lives.

OFFICE HOURS FOR PRESIDENTS DAY

Presidents’ Day is Monday, February 17. It’s a time to reflect on the leaders who shaped our nation. My office will be closed that day in observance of the holiday. We will be open on Tuesday, February 18 to help you with any state-related services. Enjoy the holiday!
