Thirteen fire and EMS grants awarded to the 7th District

HARRISBURG, Feb. 9 – Rep. Mark Longietti, D-Mercer, is pleased to announce that the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner has awarded 13 grants to fire and EMS companies within his district through its Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program.

“First responders, many of whom are volunteers, put their lives on the line every day to ensure those living in our communities are safe,” Longietti said. “I hope the funds from these grants help in some way, whether through training, purchasing equipment, for facilities or career development.”

The companies that received 2017-18 grants in the 7th District include:

  • Clark Volunteer Fire Department $12,649

  • Farrell Volunteer Fire Dept. Inc. $12,649

  • Greenville Fire Department $13,939

  • Greenville Volunteer Fire Company $12,280

  • Hermitage Volunteer Fire Department Inc.$15,000

  • Patagonia Volunteer Fire Department $12,464

  • Sharon Fire Department $14,307

  • Sharpsville Volunteer Fire Department $13,754

  • South Pymatuning Township Volunteer Fire Assoc.$11,543

  • Transfer Volunteer Fire Department $14,123

  • West Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department $13,386

  • West Salem Fire Department $12,096

  • Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department $11,727

Applications for the grant program are available in September and the program is open to all fire companies, emergency medical services and volunteer rescue squads.
