Representative Longietti joins Rep. Marci Toepel, and other interested parties, as Governor Tom Wolf signed House Bill 239 into law today. This legislation establishes the Rare Disease Council to help 1.2 million Pennsylvanians, including some here in Mercer County, who suffer from a Rare Disease. On average it takes almost 8 years to diagnose a Rare Disease and only 5% of these diseases have an FDA approved medication. We hope to put a dent in those numbers. Rep. Toepel and I co-chair the Rare Disease Caucus and we joined together to take the lead on this important legislation.
