SEPTA implements modified schedule; delays expected
Starting today and throughout the week, SEPTA has announced it will operate on a modified Saturday schedule. Approximately one-third of SEPTA’s fleet of railcars are out of service due to a defect that was discovered early Friday morning and found to impact all Silverliner Vs cars.
The modified Saturday schedule will remain in place until further notice. SEPTA has alerted customers that they should expect crowded conditions on trains and once trains reach capacity, they will not make stops to pick up additional passengers.
You can find the full modified schedule at SEPTA’s website. Transit riders are also encouraged to look into alternate forms of transportation using buses, trolleys and subways. Information on services to and from each rail station can be found here.
Please give yourself extra time if you travel using SEPTA services, as the impact of losing one-third of its rail fleet is expected to be substantial. SEPTA is working with the manufacturer to address the issue, but it is unknown how long the repairs will take.
I will continue to provide you with updates on this situation as I receive them from SEPTA, but if you have questions or concerns you may contact SEPTA at this site.
