Daley announces $1.25M for local redevelopment projects

HARRISBURG, July 24 – State Rep. Mary Jo Daley, D-Montgomery, today announced that the state is providing $1.25 million in funding for four redevelopment projects in the 148th Legislative District.
"Strong communities start with strong schools and welcoming places where people can gather. The projects that received this funding are investing in that kind of future, one where kids can learn in safe, modern buildings and neighbors can come together,” Daley said. “I'm proud to have helped secure these dollars because they'll make a meaningful difference in the quality of life for the people who call Montco home, and for years to come.”
The awards, provided by the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, will fund the following projects:
Lower Merion Township
Ardmore Community Center and PALM Senior Center - Replacement Renovation Phase III: $500,000 awarded to Lower Merion Township
Ardmore Avenue Community Center will continue construction work on its new building underway that will feature flexible programming space, a full-size gymnasium, and community use space. Funding will also continue improvements to the surrounding park, including the addition of onsite parking; more courts for basketball, tennis, pickleball, and volleyball; and an accessible playground and picnic area.
Whitemarsh Township
AIM Academy – Window Replacement: $250,000 awarded to Academy in Manayunk
The project will replace the school’s aging windows with more efficient aluminum windows. AIM Academy is a coeducational, independent school for grades 1–12 serving students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and other language-based learning differences.

Martin Luther School – Athletic Field: $250,000 awarded to Gemma Services
The project will construct a turf athletic field and short track near the new school building, along with bleachers, fencing, and a storage building.

This investment will help Martin Luther School create opportunities that support students’ physical health, social development, and overall well-being for years to come,” said Kristen Gay, Ph.D., President and CEO of Gemma Services, which includes Martin Luther School. “This funding represents an investment in children, families, and the future of our community. I am proud to support a project that will expand recreational opportunities and strengthen the resources available to students at Martin Luther School.”
The Miquon School – Heart of Miquon Project: $250,000 awarded to The Miquon School
The goal of the “Heart of Miquon” project is to construct a two-story modernized library and classroom building within the footprint of the school’s historic campus. It will also include an outdoor classroom patio for classes, meetings, and community gatherings.
- “The Miquon School is profoundly grateful to be the recipient of a RAC-P grant for a library and two classrooms for our preschool-6th grade school,” said Geetha Holdsworth, Head of School at The Miquon School. “This is more than a gift to our school—it is a lasting promise to our children and community, providing them with inspiring spaces to learn, discover, and grow for generations to come.”
The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is a Pennsylvania grant program for the design, acquisition, and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects have a regional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity. RACP projects are state-funded projects that cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.
