Malagari announces $4.6 million in Pennvest funding for Franconia Sewer Authority
HARRISBURG, Jan. 30 – State Rep. Steve Malagari, D-Montgomery, today announced the Franconia Sewer Authority was awarded a $4.6 million low-interest loan for a sewage improvement project.
The loan was approved by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority on Wednesday.
The project will address discharges from malfunctioning on-lot systems, raw sewage discharge into storm gutters and draining to the East Branch of the Perkiomen and Indian creeks. Funds through this loan will be used to install pressure sewers and gravity sewers to eliminate malfunctions.
“I am pleased to see the Pennvest board provide approval on this project, as this system serves over 3,500 households in our community,” Malagari said. "This will be a great benefit to the public and also create 10 construction jobs for Pennsylvania residents.”
The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority offers low-cost loans and grants to communities throughout Pennsylvania to fund sewer, storm water and drinking water maintenance and improvement projects. More information is available at www.pennvest.state.pa.us.
