Markosek appointed to three House committees

HARRISBURG, Jan. 28 – State Rep. Brandon Markosek, D-Allegheny, today announced he was appointed to serve on three House committees for the 2019-20 legislative session: Professional Licensure, Commerce and Gaming Oversight.

“As a freshman lawmaker, I’m looking forward to my first committee appointments from House Democratic Leader Frank Dermody,” Markosek said. “Each committee entails different responsibilities, but they all have the same goal of getting the best version of a respective bill to the full House. I look forward to the challenge, and I am grateful for the opportunity to best serve my constituents and the commonwealth.”

The Commerce Committee reviews legislation involving the banking and financial services industries. It has oversight of the Department of Banking, Department of Community and Economic Development, Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, the Securities Commission and the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority.

The Professional Licensure Committee reviews bills which pertain to positions requiring licensing for qualified employees and businesses.

The Gaming Oversight Committee oversees Pennsylvania’s table games, slot machine gaming, small games of chance and amusement laws.

Markosek’s district office is located at the Monroeville Commerce Building, 4232 Northern Pike, Suite 303. For information on constituent services available through his office, visit
