Welcome our new staff members!

I want to kick things off this week with some exciting changes and new faces here at our District 42 office! Every member of this team is ready to assist you with services and support.

First, I want to welcome our new Constituent Services Advisor, Jimmy Burn!  Jimmy’s previous experience includes interning under Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato when she served as State Representative for Pennsylvania’s 21st Legislative District.

Jimmy says that experience taught him the importance of strong constituent services and how to navigate state government. He also formerly served as an intern with Millvale Borough and worked as a Project Manager at the Allegheny County Department of Economic Development, where he focused on the Allegheny Lead Safe Homes Program.

Jimmy graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in political science and public service. Now, Jimmy is ready to answer your questions about constituent services, including state programs, driver and vehicle information, healthcare, senior-citizen support and consumer support.

Next, we welcome new Constituent Services and Communications Advisor, Alicia Schisler! An Emmy award-winning communications and external affairs leader, Alicia is thrilled to bring her more than two decades of experience in public media, corporate communications, and healthcare leadership back to her hometown and the communities of District 42.

Alicia graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and Mt. Lebanon High School; and currently lives in Mt. Lebanon her husband and three children. She has previously served on multiple boards including the Mt. Lebanon Partnership and the Midwife Center for Birth and Women’s Health. Alicia is looking forward to working with the team on upcoming events, including a Senior Fair and a Renter’s Rights Forum, while also providing day-to-day services and support to the constituents and communities of District 42.

We are also welcoming two new summer interns!

Tiernan Jenkins is a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School and a rising sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh, where he is pursuing a major in political science and a minor in economics on a pre-law track.

At Pitt, Tiernan is a member of the University of Pittsburgh Varsity Marching Band, where he performs as a snare drummer at football games and university events. He is also involved with the Pitt Political Science Student Association on the executive board, the Phi Alpha Delta International Pre-Law Fraternity, and various other campus organizations.

Tiernan aspires to attend a top law school after graduation and is interested in exploring careers in law and public service. He previously volunteered in the District 42 office under former State Representative Dan Miller. This summer, Tiernan says he hopes to learn more about government by helping his own community.

Intern Zachary Frenie (Zack) is a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School as well as a rising sophomore and member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Zack is an international relations major, and his first internship was with former State Representative Dan Miller two summers ago. Now that he’s back in District 42, Zack says he is excited to help constituents and to conduct research to make the district an even better place to live!

We recently bid farewell to former Constituent Services Advisor Lindsay Flinn, who moved on to a new role in the community after dedicating three years to the district office. She has provided excellent service, led event planning and conducted outstanding outreach; we are truly sad to see her go. Join me in wishing her the best in her new endeavor!

No matter what changes unfold here at the office, our commitment to connecting you with state services, answering your questions, and providing support remains the same. Please reach out or stop by the office in person! We’re here Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Memorial Day Ceremonies and Remembrance

I was honored to participate in Memorial Day ceremonies across the district, as we came together to remember our fallen heroes.

I joined the Mt. Lebanon service at the Mt. Lebanon Park War Memorial, then walked with my family in the South Hills Memorial Day Parade.  A huge thank you to Dormont Mayor Jason Walsh for taking the reins of the parade committee, and to the entire planning committee and the volunteers who made the day possible.

Property Tax/Rent Rebate program deadline extended!

The deadline for the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) program has been extended to December 31, giving eligible Pennsylvanians more time to apply for rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2025.

Payments will start going out in early July 2026 and continue on a rolling basis.

We’re here to help our neighbors apply for the program, which has made it easier for older residents here in Allegheny County and across the state to stay in their homes and afford what they need. The PTRR program benefits Pennsylvanians 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, and people with disabilities 18 or older.

Give us a call, send an email, or stop by the office in uptown Mt. Lebanon to find out if you qualify and apply for your rebate.

Senior Farmers Market Voucher Program
now open in Allegheny County

Applications remain open for the Allegheny County Area Agency on Aging 2026 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. This program helps income-eligible older adults by providing vouchers for use at local farmers markets.

To be eligible for the program, you must be an age 60 or older resident of Allegheny County who meets income guidelines. Married couples may receive one set of vouchers for each individual.

For 2026, the agency is moving to an online application option and mail distribution process. Vouchers will be mailed directly to the senior – no proxy forms or in-person pickups will be required. My office has applications on hand, and my staff is happy to help you apply for this important program!

Voucher distribution will begin on June 1. Residents have until September 15 to apply for the program. To apply online, visit this page or stop in at my office between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

HB 2550 Hearing

Video

The Finance Committee recently held a hearing on my House Bill 2550, which would establish the Small Business Health Care Premiums Contribution Tax Credit.

We heard testimony from PA Chamber of Business and Industry Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Alex Halper and University of South Carolina assistant professor David Anderson, adding their expertise about the affordability crisis we’re currently in, decreases in healthcare plan enrollment after Affordable Care Act cuts, and how to better support employees of small businesses during these challenging times.

Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, our office is here to help. You can reach us by phone at 412-343-3870 or visit us at 650 Washington Road, Suite 102, in Mt. Lebanon.
