Rep. Jen Mazzocco June 17, 2026 | 3:50 PM
I’d like to start this week by recognizing Juneteenth.
Celebrated annually to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States, Juneteenth officially became a federal holiday in 2021. It is a time to gather with community to celebrate freedom and acknowledge the continued work we all have to do to protect civil rights, promote equity and fight for social justice.
On Sunday, I was happy to attend the Lebo Coalition Juneteenth Jubilee in Mt. Lebanon. A big thanks to everyone who showed up and participated, and my warmest wishes to all who continue to celebrate this meaningful holiday this week.
In recognition of the holiday, my office will be closed on Friday. Regular office hours will resume on Monday.
I was busy with my committee assignments this week, including voting on several bills to advance from the House Transportation Committee.
I voted for House Bill 1296, which would allow an individual to donate to the Fire Company Grant Program and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program. These programs help our local fire and EMS companies afford projects like facilities, equipment and training.
Other bills I voted for included House Bill 2219, which would prohibit all license plate obstruction devices, House Bill 2233, which would modernize law for emergency ATVs, and House Bill 2549 which would allow for voluntary donations to the state's Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing when using PennDOT services.
Transit is a massive issue for myself and the district, and I appreciate the chance to impact transportation policy every time I make the trip to Harrisburg.
My team and I were back for pop-up office hours in Baldwin Township, at least until the thunder and lightning came back around! Office hours will be back in the township and around the district this summer, bringing state government services to you. Keep watching newsletters and social media for announcements on more dates.
Saturday was a beautiful day to take part in Pride in Mt. Lebanon! I welcomed the crowd alongside Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato, and it was so great to see so many residents and organizations show up to recognize and support our LGBTQ+ friends and neighbors.
Finally, my office has nailed down a date for the Fall Senior Fair! It will take place on Friday, September 25th at The Salvation Army, 1060 McNeilly Road in Pittsburgh. I can’t wait to get seniors connected to all of the services my office can provide, and I’ll have more updates as the date draws nearer!
Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, our office is here to help. You can reach us by phone at 412-343-3870 or visit us at 650 Washington Road, Suite 102, in Mt. Lebanon.
