In Harrisburg

The latest activities and events I participated in around Harrisburg and the Capitol.

I joined my colleagues in support of the Solar for Schools program — grant funds that help schools save on electricity costs, create union jobs, and move PA toward greater use of clean energy! It’s important that we continue to invest in this program, and that schools apply!

Always nice to run into AFT Pennsylvania President Wendy Coleman in Harrisburg fighting for our public schools across the Commonwealth!

I want to acknowledge the incredible women in the Allegheny County Delegation. When Rep. Kulik was elected almost a decade ago, she was the lone woman in the delegation. This year, we reached gender parity in our county delegation, as I became the 8th woman out of 16 representatives. I’m so honored to be among these amazing women, who embody important voices in our Commonwealth – Black and Latina folks, the LGBTQ+ community, and people with disabilities, just to name a few – and fight for their constituents every day.

I had the pleasure of meeting with advocates with Ceasefire PA to discuss the importance of investing in safer communities through community violence intervention. CVI work positively influences students and families in communities all across the region. I’m happy to support continued investment in the state budget for these programs!
