Be prepared for Tropical Storm Isaias and all severe storms
Severe weather caused by Tropical Storm Isaias will be impacting the area from late tonight through Tuesday, as a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect. I wanted to share the warning and offer some helpful information.
Please note that flood-prone areas in Cheltenham along the Tookany Creek from Glenside to Philadelphia and in Springfield along the Wissahickon and other smaller streams will possibly receive between 3-5 inches of rain Tuesday, which could cause significant flash flooding. Power outages are also a possibility across the district from downed trees caused by tropical storm-force wind gusts. Please remember to move cars to higher areas.
The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning and a Flash Flood Watch for all or parts of our region.
Severe weather resources are available through the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety. The department also provides checklists for before, during and after severe storms roll through our region.
The Wolf Administration also recently outlined preparations for hurricane season in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. And the Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner last week urged property owners to consider purchasing flood insurance to protect their homes, businesses and possessions.
