McClinton honors local veterans at resource fair and luncheon

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 19 – State Rep. Joanna McClinton, D-Phila./Delaware, hosted her annual Veterans Resource Fair and Luncheon on Nov. 15 at Myers Recreation Center.

“We need to make sure our veterans are cared for, and that they know how to connect with the resources available to help them live a full, successful life,” McClinton said. “It’s always a privilege to be able to honor and support our veterans. Our local heroes and their families deserve our respect and appreciation. I’m happy to do my part, thanking them for their service.”

Over 80 veterans and their families enjoyed an afternoon of lunch, health screenings, and a special presentation for the 2018 honorees. Six local veterans were honored for their bravery with a legislative acknowledgement from McClinton.

Resource vendors were on site to provide support and information on benefits available to veterans, including Philadelphia VA Medical Center; Philadelphia Corporation for Aging; Philadelphia Department of Veterans Affairs; Sayre Health Center; USEF Veterans Department; PECO; and Cigna Health Spring.

More information on this event or general veterans’ issues and services is available by calling McClinton’s district office at 215-748-6712.
