Rep. McClinton, ACHIEVEability to host 60th Street Health and Wellness Summer Jam Saturday, Aug. 10
PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 8 – State Rep. Joanna McClinton, D-Phila./Delaware, and ACHIEVEability will host the 60th Street Health and Wellness Summer Jam on Saturday, Aug. 10.
“Summer Jam is an amazing celebration of community, bringing neighbors together and giving them the opportunity to get services they may need,” McClinton said. “Summer Jam offers something for everyone – from free health screenings and wellness resources, to free food and live entertainment.”
The 60th Street Health and Wellness Summer Jam will be held on 60th Street, between Arch and Chestnut streets. It will start with a parade at 10:15 a.m. at Shepard Rec. Center.
The main stage will kick off at 11 a.m., with drill team selections and opening remarks. Throughout the day beginning at 11:30 a.m. there will be musical and dance performances, including African Dance and Drum ensemble at 12:30 p.m. Community awards will be presented at 3 p.m.
In addition to free health screenings and wellness resources, free food and live entertainment, there will be giveaways, children’s activities, community resources and more at the all-ages event. The event runs through 5 p.m.
State Reps. Morgan Cephas and Movita Johnson-Harrell, both D-Phila., will cosponsor the event with McClinton.
ACHIEVEability is a nonprofit working to break the cycle of poverty.
Previous 60th Street Health and Wellness Summer Jams have attracted more than 1,000 people.
