McClinton sworn in to represent the 191st Legislative District
HARRISBURG, Aug. 25 – State Rep. Joanna McClinton was sworn into office today to represent southwest Philadelphia’s 191st Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
"I’m humbled and honored to represent residents from the neighborhoods in which I was raised and I now proudly call my home," McClinton said. "I look forward to advocating for my constituents’ interests and working to make Pennsylvania a better place for all."
McClinton’s legislative interests include improving educational opportunities; creating good jobs, particularly for economically disadvantaged areas such as the 191st District; fighting for Pennsylvania to pay for indigent expenses like all other states do, which would save Philadelphia $50 million per year; and requiring the criminal justice system to automatically expunge the records of those found innocent in court.
Prior to winning a special election on Aug. 11, McClinton served as chief counsel to state Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams for two years. She also served as an assistant public defender in Philadelphia for seven years.
McClinton is inviting residents to sign up for e-mail updates on state and local issues by visiting her website, www.pahouse.com/McClinton. Residents can also visit her constituent service office, located at 6027A Ludlow St., Philadelphia, or call the office at 215-748-6712.
The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and McClinton’s staff can assist residents with a wide variety of state programs and issues.
