McClinton honors local veterans at her Veterans Resource Fair

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 18 – State Rep. Joanna McClinton, D-Phila./Delaware, honored seven local veterans during her Veterans Resource Fair and Luncheon held at Myers Recreation center Thursday.

More than 100 veterans attended, including the honorees, Alfred Robinson Jr., Albert Willis, Robert Tucker, Robert King, Edward Ted Beher, Allen Banks and the wife of the late Howard H. Hicks.

"It was an honor to be among so many heroes," McClinton said. "Talking with so many of them was inspirational to me. Each veteran has a story to tell and their service has left an indelible mark on each one as well as their families. Thank you to all who served our country and congratulations to those I honored at the event."

The event brought together a number of agencies and businesses that deal with veterans issues, including:

     • U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs;
     • Congressman Bob Brady;
     • Veterans Group of Philadelphia;
     • Veterans Administration Philadelphia Regional Benefits Office;
     • Veterans Upward Bound at the University of Pennsylvania;
     • Sayre Health Center;
     • Keystone First; and
     • Office staff of state Sen. Anthony H. Williams.

Free health screenings, including blood pressure and glucose levels, were also available for the veterans.
