Great news for Erie County—approximately $1.68 million in state funding is on the way to enhance local infrastructure and public services.

This practical investment will put modern public safety vehicles on the street and equip teams with better tools and training; speed up paving while reducing costs with an upgraded milling machine; keep roadways clear with new maintenance equipment; protect firefighters and equipment with needed station repairs; and strengthen water service through safe, in-house excavation and repairs.

Together, these improvements mean safer neighborhoods, fewer disruptions, and reliable services residents can count on—benefits that touch every part of the county.

The City of Erie and Erie County, with state and community partners, are opening a Multi-Agency Resource Center to provide one-stop help for residents and businesses affected by recent severe storms.

Join us September 17–19, 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 1022 Liberty St., Erie.

Together, we will continue working to completely recover from the recent destructive storms.

As a former history teacher, I was humbled to take part in a historic PA House session at Congress Hall in Philadelphia. Standing where so many pivotal decisions have been discussed was a powerful reminder that representative democracy isn’t a spectator sport—it’s a team effort.

My favorite part of the day was speaking with—and listening to—students who were in the city for civic events. As we reflect on the past, it’s equally important to remember that this work is about our future.

Last Thursday in Philadelphia, I joined colleagues for a constructive event moderated by Pennsylvania House Speaker Joanna McClinton. We dug into several pressing issues facing the Commonwealth and heard a wide range of perspectives.

The dialogue was valuable, and I’m grateful for the chance to participate. I look forward to continuing these conversations as we work together toward practical solutions.

It was a meaningful chance to experience a vibrant mix of traditions and stories that make our community shine, and to celebrate them together on the Square.

The Pennsylvania fall hunting season is right around the corner! The above graphic summarizes key updates for the 2026–27 statewide season.

Highlights include expanded Sunday hunting (with exceptions for migratory game birds), updated CWD guidance on transporting deer and disposing of high-risk parts, small-game seasons remaining open during the regular firearms deer season, and a snapshot of key dates for deer, bear, pheasant, and squirrel.

A friendly reminder that the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program deadline has been extended until December 31, 2026. This program, which is available to older adults and people with disabilities who are 18 years or older, supports homeowners and renters across Pennsylvania with rebates ranging from $380 to $1,000.
