Miller receives committee posts for second term in state House

HARRISBURG, Jan. 21 – State Rep. Dan Miller, D-Mt. Lebanon, has been appointed to serve on five state House committees, the House Children and Youth, Education, Human Services, Judiciary, and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees for the 2015-16 legislative session. “It’s a tremendous privilege to serve on these House committees,” Miller said. “I intend to bring a unique perspective to the topics we will be dealing with this session. From working to pass legislation that will better protect children to ensuring our veterans are well taken care of, we will be working with important topics that impact all Pennsylvanians.” There are 24 standing committees in the state House of Representatives. The committee system allows legislators to assess and amend legislation and evaluate important issues before sending bills to the full House for a vote. This is Miller’s first term on the Education, Human Services, Judiciary, and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees, but he has previously served on the Children and Youth Committee.
