Youth Advisory Council applicants sought by Mullery

NANTICOKE, June 3 – State Rep. Gerald Mullery, D-Luzerne, announced that applications for the next term of the 119th Legislative District Youth Advisory Council will be accepted through June 30.

“We just completed the first term of our Youth Advisory Council and it was invigorating to listen and learn from the best and brightest students from our area. These young people are committed to service and making our small piece of Pennsylvania, and the world, a better place,” Mullery said. “I know we have many more like-minded students who are ready to give their input on how we can improve our society and I’m looking forward to hearing what they have to say.”

Applicants must be residents of the 119th District and enrolled in Hazleton Area High School, Crestwood High School, Greater Nanticoke Area High School, Hanover Area High School, Wyoming Valley West High School, MMI Preparatory School, Holy Redeemer High School or Wyoming Seminary.

Council members will have a chance to meet with peers from the legislative district to discuss important issues, help discover solutions, and consider ways to involve their classmates locally. The council will work directly with Mullery and his staff to collaborate on key issues for young people in the region.

An online application is available at the top of Mullery’s website www.pahouse.com/mullery. In addition to basic identifying information, applicants must provide a short statement of why they would like to be on the council, a short list of topics they would like to discuss if selected to be on the council and the name of a high school teacher willing to provide a reference.
