HARRISBURG, Dec. 18 – State Rep. Gerald Mullery, D-Luzerne, announced that Earth Conservancy has received a grant in the amount of $62,000 to conduct a feasibility study for an ATV facility in Newport Township.
“All-Terrain Vehicle riding is a very popular activity, but there is a need for more space in our area for riders to legally use them,” Mullery said. “It’s great to see the state making investments in our region to expand outdoor recreation.”
Mullery said this grant will allow Earth Conservancy to determine options and alternatives for ATV riders to have a safe area to ride and prevent illegal ATV riding and trespassing.
The grant is one of five ATV grant projects announced totaling $647,300. The money is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, are being funded through the department’s ATV Management Restricted Account.
