Mullery announces $35K grant awarded to local school district to expand science and technology education
HARRISBURG, Jan. 17 – State Rep. Gerald Mullery, D-Luzerne, announced a $35,000 PAsmart grant has been awarded to the Crestwood School District.
“Job opportunities in tech and computer science fields are in high demand to ensure our local, state, and national economies continue to prosper,” Mullery said. “I am pleased to see Crestwood recognizing this critical need and taking steps to prepare our students of today for their future tomorrow.”
Crestwood School District will use the grant to expand its computer science classes and provide educators from pre-K through grade 12 training to teach those courses.
The new PAsmart targeted grants were awarded to 163 school districts, charter schools and intermediate units across the commonwealth. All of them have prioritized expanding access to computer science for underrepresented students, such as students of color, girls, low-income students and students in rural communities.
