Mullery alerts small businesses to Luzerne County COVID-19 grant assistance program

HARRISBURG, Oct. 1 – State Rep. Gerald Mullery, D-Luzerne, is alerting local small businesses, which have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, to the Luzerne County COVID-19 Grant Program now accepting applications for financial assistance.

The Luzerne County COVID-19 Grant Program has $8 million available for small businesses and $3 million for nonprofits. The application window is now open and will remain open for 10 business days until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14.

“Small business owners have endured serious financial hardship since the height of the pandemic,” Mullery said. “These businesses are the backbone of both the local economy and the community, and they deserve every resource available to assist them in these uncertain times.”

Eligible businesses and nonprofits can apply for grants depending on their revenue size. This is NOT a first-come program; all applications will be reviewed equally once the application window closes.

Mullery added, “I would like to thank Luzerne County officials and Penn’s Northeast for working together and coming up with a plan to support our local small businesses and non-profit organizations.”

The Luzerne County COVID-19 Grant Program was developed in partnership with Luzerne County, Penn’s Northeast and Community First Fund. This $11 million program was designed to help small businesses and nonprofit organizations located in Luzerne County in their efforts to recover from the devastating impact of COVID-19.
