Mullery to host fishing and boating meeting March 26 at LCCC

HARRISBURG, March 12 – State Rep. Gerald Mullery announced that he will host a meeting to discuss local fishing and boating from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 26 at the Luzerne County Community College Educational Conference Center, 1333 S. Prospect St., Nanticoke.

“This meeting will provide an opportunity to meet the man in charge of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, as well as an extremely knowledgeable local state forester and a representative from Trout Unlimted,” said Mullery, D-Newport Township. “I encourage local anglers and boaters to attend.”

Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission Executive Director John Arway is scheduled to attend and speak. State Forester Nick Lylo from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will speak about state forests in Luzerne County and the recreation opportunities they offer.

In addition, Ralph Kates from Trout Unlimited will speak.

Mullery, a member of the House Game and Fisheries Committee, has held a local meeting the past few years to discuss fishing and boating opportunities and issues in advance of the first day of trout season.

April 18 is the first day of trout season in Luzerne County and throughout most of Pennsylvania. The first day of trout season for 18 counties in southeastern Pennsylvania is April 4.
