Mullery responds to governor’s budget proposal

HARRISBURG, Feb. 7 – State Rep. Gerald Mullery, D-Luzerne, offered the following statement in response to Gov. Tom Wolf’s 2017-18 state budget proposal that was unveiled today at the Capitol.

“Governor Wolf has chosen to focus on our state's most important responsibilities: attracting and retaining family-sustaining jobs, ensuring our children receive a quality public education, providing effective treatment for those battling opioid addiction, protecting our environment and safeguarding our seniors. I am proud to join Governor Wolf in this effort and I look forward to the budget discussions that will be under way in the coming weeks.

“I am disappointed Governor Wolf failed to address an issue of paramount importance to my constituents: property taxes. However, the budget process is long and I remain hopeful a comprehensive change to our antiquated school funding system will be part of the conversation,” Mullery said.
