Hanover Township traffic signal upgrade possible through state grant

HARRISBURG, May 11 – Hanover Township will upgrade its traffic signals thanks in part to a $96,528 grant awarded today by PennDOT, according to state Rep. Gerald Mullery.

“This project will allow improvements to be made to the traffic lights along Sans Souci Parkway at St. Mary’s Road and Willow Street in Hanover Township. Financial assistance from the state is always welcome at the local level,” Mullery said.

The Green Light–Go program provides state funds to operate and maintain traffic signals along critical and designated corridors on state and local highways. It is designed to improve safety and mobility by reducing congestion and improving efficiency of existing traffic signals.

It is a competitive grant program, requiring a 20 percent match for municipalities, counties or planning organizations that request assistance.
