Rep. Ed Neilson July 22, 2026 | 4:22 PM
State Rep. Ed Neilson, chair of the Pennsylvania House Transportation Committee, said today that he applauds the substantial investments that the 2026-27 state budget makes in Pennsylvania’s transportation sector.
“I’m proud of the work we accomplished to keep Pennsylvania roads safe and up to par,” Neilson said. “This was a bipartisan effort that ensures roads, highways and bridges across the commonwealth will be safer and more efficient – for now and future generations.”
Neilson said that $775 million is coming to shovel-ready projects in all 67 counties on state roads in the next two fiscal years – without raising taxes on hardworking Pennsylvanians.
“By using the Motor License Fund for much-needed maintenance on our bridges and roads, projects can be completed faster without hurting taxpayers,” the lawmaker added.
This budget also provides a $183.5 million increase for highways and bridges this fiscal year.
“I want to thank my colleagues on the House Transportation Committee for coming together and working for the betterment of Pennsylvania,” Neilson said.
