O’Mara elected to serve in key leadership roles on powerful PA House delegation
HARRISBURG, Jan. 22 – State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara was elected this week to serve in key leadership roles on the powerful Southeastern Delegation of the PA House Democratic Caucus. O’Mara represents the 165th Legislative District in Delaware County and was sworn in Jan. 1.
The Southeast Delegation’s is the PA House’s largest delegation, comprising legislators from Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Berks, Lancaster, York and Dauphin counties. The delegation’s leadership structure is divided into two levels with vice chairs who serve the entire delegation and regional vice chairs who are responsible for their geographical area.
“I am proud to have been voted to serve as the vice chair for freshmen and the first vice chair designate for the House Democratic Southeast Delegation,” said O’Mara, D-Delaware. “I look forward to working with Chairwoman Margo Davidson and my colleagues on the leadership team to provide guidance to our colleagues on how to achieve the House Democrats' Plan For PA. Working together, the House Democrats will make Pennsylvania a better place for working families.”
Prior to her election to the House, O’Mara worked nearly seven years at the University of Pennsylvania. O’Mara served as the assistant director of university stewardship, working alongside her colleagues to ensure that attending the university remained affordable for students. O’Mara also is a member of the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils and lives in Springfield with her husband.
O’Mara said she is committed to improving public education for Pennsylvania’s children, protecting communities from the dangers of gun violence, ensuring access to affordable health care and expanding job opportunities for people at all skill levels.
