O’Mara welcomes national lacrosse champions from Cabrini University to Capitol, presents citation

HARRISBURG, Nov. 1 – State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara welcomed Cabrini University’s men’s lacrosse team to the House chamber on Wednesday to present them with a citation commemorating their first Division III national championship.

This is the first varsity sports team from Cabrini University to ever earn an NCAA title.

The Cabrini University Cavaliers beat the Amherst College Mammoths 16-12 last May, earning them their national title. During the game, Cabrini University’s goalie Riley White had 11 saves and nine different Cavaliers scored goals. A student among them was Timmy Brooks, who returned to the field for the first time since recovering from his early-season injury and scored the game-winning goal.

“I’m honored to recognize this extraordinary group of college athletes who show what hard work, passion and determination looks like,” O’Mara said. “I’m extremely proud that a Pennsylvania team earned an NCAA national title, but even more proud that they’re from the 165th Legislative District. Congratulations to the men’s lacrosse team on your national championship and for making history at Cabrini University.”
