Pielli announces $750,000 in transportation asset grants

WEST CHESTER, March 26 – State Rep. Chris Pielli, D-Chester, is proud to announce that $750,000 has been awarded to West Chester Borough.

Specifically, this grant funding will go to the West Chester South High Streetscape Improvement Project to help rehabilitate sidewalks in the area.

Pielli said the Multimodal Transportation Fund from the Commonwealth Financing Authority provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.

“Our commonwealth is committed to improving its infrastructure,” Pielli said. “Sidewalks are not something we give a lot of thought to, but when left ignored, it can cause a multitude of problems. This project may seem small in name, but thanks to this funding, West Chester can provide safe sidewalks that will leave a lasting impact on residents and visitors alike. I thank the Commonwealth Financing Authority and state Sen. Carolyn Comitta for their help in making sure projects like this are provided for in the 156th Legislative District.”
