Rozzi receives 2015-16 House committee assignments
HARRISBURG, Jan. 20 – State Rep. Mark Rozzi, D-Berks, said he is looking forward to serving on two new and two familiar committees for the 2015-16 legislative session.
House Democratic Leader Frank Dermody, D-Allegheny, appointed Rozzi to serve on the Children and Youth, Commerce, Gaming Oversight and Judiciary committees.
"I look forward to continuing my work on the House Children and Youth Committee. The committee made great strides last session in strengthening child protection laws in the commonwealth and will surely continue the progress this session. I am especially looking forward to my new seat on the Judiciary Committee. I am hopeful that we will make progress towards strengthening laws that would better protect victims of abuse." Rozzi said. "I feel very fortunate to have a seat on committees that well represent the issues that are important to the people I represent," Rozzi said.
There are 28 standing committees in the state House of Representatives. The committee system allows legislators to assess and amend legislation and evaluate important issues before bringing bills to the full House for a vote.
