Rozzi to host free vehicle etching event

TEMPLE, April 6 – State Rep. Mark Rozzi, D-Berks, will host a free vehicle etching event in an effort to combat vehicle theft in Berks County.

Residents of the 126th Legislative District are invited to attend this free event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25 at Rozzi’s Muhlenberg Township constituent service office, 4933 Kutztown Road.

VIN etching is the process of permanently etching a vehicle’s 17-digit vehicle identification number onto a minimum of one of the vehicle’s windows. The process takes approximately 10 minutes. The Pennsylvania State Police said it encourages VIN etching as a means to eradicate vehicle theft.

"Vehicle theft is one of the top property-related crimes in Berks County," Rozzi said. "Vehicles that have etched windows are less valuable to car thieves because they can be more easily tracked. I am proud to partner with the Auto Theft Task Force and the Pennsylvania Auto Theft Prevention Authority to help combat crime in our community."

Residents may contact Rozzi’s constituent service office at 610-921-8921 with questions about the event.
