Rozzi to serve as keynote speaker at SARCC dinner

HARRISBURG, April 10 – As keynote speaker at the Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center’s annual dinner, state Rep. Mark Rozzi, D-Berks, will share his personal experience as a victim of sexual abuse.

The SARCC’s annual dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 16 at the Lebanon Country Club, 3375 Oak Street, Lebanon, PA 17042.

Rozzi said he will share his story of survival, his legislative efforts to reform statute of limitations laws and better prevent sexual abuse.

“It took me 20 years to come forward and share my past. We must empower victims to come forward so that they can heal and help protect others from abuse,” Rozzi said.

Rozzi introduced H.B. 661 that would increase the age for adult victims of child sex abuse to file a civil claim from 30 to 50 years old, making the civil statute consistent with the criminal statute. Previously time-barred victims would be able to file suit.

Rozzi said he welcomes those interested in attending to make a reservation by calling 717-270-6972, Ext. 350.

“I am proud to be affiliated with an organization that places the well-being of victims at the forefront of their mission. Together, we can make a difference,” Rozzi said.
