Earlier this month, I was proud to join state Sen Lisa Boscola in announcing a $475,000 grant for New Bethany to support their Paving the Way campaign; an expansion of their facilities to renovate over 18,500 square feet which will transform their Drop-In Center to a full service community resource. You can read details about how the organization will use the state funds here.

I also joined state Sen. Nick Miller in announcing a $200,000 state grant for Hanover Township that will go to the Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Co. This money is in addition to a $92,581 grant announced May 20 to purchase 30 Motorola APX 8000 Portable Radios and 14 APX 8500 Mobile Radios, bringing the total state funding for the project to just under $300,000. One final reminder that all eligible older Pennsylvanians and adults 18 or older with disabilities should apply for the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program by the Dec. 31 deadline.

This is an important source of relief for property taxes or rent paid last year. With this year’s income eligibility ceiling raised to $46,520, more households may qualify. Rebates typically range from $380 to $1,000, depending on income and the amount paid in property taxes or rent.
