Community Fair July 23; Grants awarded; Rebate deadline extended

Join our Community and Senior Fair July 23

I'm excited to be able to share that we're having a fair! I'm inviting you, your family and friends - the whole community to join us on July 23.

We'll have something for everyone. We'll be joined by representatives from many state and local agencies. Attendees can learn about the many resources and programs that are available every day from our office and those in the community for children, students, teens, adults, families and older adults. There will be folks on hand to answer questions, offer materials, and provide giveaways and refreshments. We’ll also have special appearances, like a fire truck from the Bethlehem Fire Department, and Legacy Unisex Barbershop will be there offering haircuts and braiding for those needing a fresh look for back to school.

For many in our older adult community who were used to signing up for their Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers from our office, representatives will be on hand from the Area Agency on Aging to give them out in person, and members of the County's Digital Navigator Coalition will be there to explain how you can better use your laptop and/or phone or even help you obtain one if you need it for FREE!

The event will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Center Street, and we're helping them out by publicizing their summer food drive - if you'd like to contribute something to their drive, they'd be appreciative. But, as always, the event is free to attend.

Proud to Secure $450,000 in Grants
to Benefit Three Nonprofits

Last month, I was thrilled to be able to deliver state grant funding to three important initiatives taking place in Bethlehem.

  • Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering will receive $313,608 toward its project to convert their use to one that is year-round for our most vulnerable unhoused population.
  • Historic Bethlehem Museums and Sites is being awarded $75,000 for their important restoration work on the 1761 Tannery building – the only extent tannery in the world!
  • New Bethany also will receive $75,000 for their construction and renovation efforts on their Southside Campus.

Our community continues so much great work, and I’m pleased to be able to secure state funding for these projects. You can read more about them on my website here.

$97,000 Awarded to Hanover Twp. Fire Co.

I was pleased to join state Sen. Nick Miller in securing a $97,743 state grant that will allow the Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Co. to acquire the latest technology in “Jaws of Life” rescue equipment. The purchase will improve public safety by helping to perform critical extrications during emergency responses.

More details about the grant are on my website here.
