Rep. Ben Sanchez May 1, 2019 | 1:12 PM
HARRISBURG, May 1 – State Rep. Ben Sanchez announced Wednesday that Abington School District was awarded funding to assist in school safety.
The School Safety and Security Committee, part of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, awarded $80,100 to the school district. The funds are included in the 2018-19 budget and will go toward security planning and purchase of security-related technology, staff and student training programs, and trauma-informed approaches to education.
“The safety of our children, especially within the walls of their schools, should be a priority for all of us,” Sanchez said. “We’re always looking for ways to improve safety measures, and that’s why I’m happy to see this committee invest in our schools.”
Gov. Wolf signed Act 44 of 2018 into law last year, creating the School Safety and Security Committee.
