State Rep. Christina Sappey, D-Chester, and her staff can help seniors apply for and obtain an ID card to ride public transit for free. Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority permits seniors 65 or older to ride for FREE with a valid SEPTA Key ID Card on all SEPTA Transit Routes. The cards can be used on SEPTA lines, buses, trolleys, subway and regional rails.
SEPTA Key Cards have contactless chips, allowing riders to pass the card across the face of a validator to ride for FREE. The card also allows seniors to travel for half fare (50% of the weekday fare) to and from the states of Delaware and New Jersey.
Residents of the 158th District in Chester County can come to Sappey’s office at the Williowdale Town Center, 698 Unionville Road in Kennett Square, to start the process of obtaining a card and riding for free. For more information, residents can call Sappey’s office at (484) 200-8264.
“This is just one of the services our office provides,” Sappey said. “We remain committed to helping our residents and our seniors.”
