Schweyer can help with extended Property Tax/Rent Rebate applications
ALLENTOWN, June 13 – State Rep. Peter Schweyer said people have more time to apply for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program because this week the deadline was extended until the end of the year.
“People should never pay for assistance with this very popular rebate program. My office can help them fill out the application, so they don’t miss out on up to $650 back for their rent or property taxes paid in 2018,” Schweyer said. “We’re also available to answer questions about other state-related programs or issues.”
Schweyer’s office is at 1501 Lehigh St., Suite 206. The phone number is 610-791-6270.
Eligible residents include people 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, and people with disabilities 18 or older. The program’s income limits are $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters, while half of Social Security is excluded.
People who have already applied for their rebate may check their status by contacting Schweyer’s office or calling the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue toll free at 1-888-PATAXES.
