Veterans outreach June 15th at Schweyer's office
HARRISBURG, June 5 – Area veterans are invited to take part in a support program next week at the office of state Rep. Peter Schweyer.
A representative from the American Legion will be in Schweyer's office -- 1912 S. Fourth St., Allentown -- from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, June, 15 to provide information on services available to veterans and their families. The representative will be available to discuss pensions and other compensation, education, health care and death benefits.
Legion membership is not required to take advantage of the help, but anyone interested in speaking to the adviser is recommended to schedule an appointment through Schweyer’s office at 610-791-6270. The help is available on the third Friday of every month at Schweyer’s office.
In addition, an APPRISE counselor is at Schweyer’s Allentown office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 for people wishing to sign up for Medicare, or those who want to change their plan.
Appointments are required by calling Schweyer’s office at 610-791-6270.
The counselor is available to answer questions about Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans, Medigap plans, Medicare drug plans, PACE/PACENET prescription drug-coverage and various low-income assistance programs, such as the Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help.
