Statement on recent Federal Actions
|
I stand by Gov. Josh Shapiro's decision to challenge the unconstitutional federal funding freeze. Lack of funding will hurt all Pennsylvanians and our communities that rely on these essential resources.

Animal Protection Caucus Launch and Hearing
|
The Animal Protection Caucus is back and ready to fight for our furry, feathery, and scaly friends! We had some great wins last year like improving our dog law, advancing bills to end pigeon shoots, and ensuring protections for pets of domestic violence survivors.
Now our priorities include giving law enforcement and humane society police more power to protect animals and re-introducing the beagle bill to stop inhumane testing on beagles in Pennsylvania! Thanks to the Humane Society of PA for their support! We have a great bipartisan team who are ready to fight for the rights of animals!
Last week, the PA House Democratic Policy Committee held a hearing on how the state can combat animal fighting and why it is significant for our communities. Thank you to state Rep. Mary Isaacson for getting proceedings rolling, to Janette Reever, Global Anti-Animal Fighting expert for Humane World for Animals, and Patrick Noll, Humane Officer for the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, for testifying on this gruesome issue. This is more than just an animal abuse problem; dog fighting is considered a cluster crime that often includes narcotics trafficking, child abuse, money laundering, and organized crime. That's why it's so important to have funding and training for these cases; it's not just about the animals. Animal fighting brings down the entire community, and many other innocent victims are involved .

Congratulations to the Berwyn, Paoli and Valley Forge Volunteer fire companies for each receiving over $30,000 in Fire and EMS grants. These funds will help our first responders acquire building and equipment upgrades, additional training support and more!
